Catarina de Sousa is a Journalist, Filmmaker and Producer of Cinema and Visual Arts. She has a Master in Communication Sciences – Information and Journalism from the University of Minho, and training in Documentary at Ateliers Varan, France. As a journalist she worked for the LUSA News Agency, Radio Clube Português, Barcelona Televisió, and is a collaborator for Mídia Ninja – Independent Narratives, Journalism and Action – in Brazil. She is currently a resident artist at UnionDocs – Center for Documentary Art, in New York, with a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

She directed “Queer Utopia” (in production), “Truth and Consequence” (2017) about the Post-Truth era for RTP, portuguese public television. Between Portugal and Brazil, she produced films: “The Bite” (2019), “Art and Hurt” (2018), “Exterminator Seed” (2017), directed by Pedro Neves Marques; “The Valley of Doubts” (post-production) by Francisca Manuel; “Laureano Barros, Rigoroso Refúgio” (2017) by Paulo Pinto for RTP. She is Associated producer of “Exctasy” (2020) by Moara Passoni, and “Olmo and The Seagull” (2015) by Petra Costa and Lea Glob.

She produced film installations: “The Bite is Back” (2019) by Pedro Neves Marques curated by the Pérez Art Museum in Miami. “Olho Zoomórfico / Camera Trap” (2018) by Mariana Silva curated by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. “Catherine ou 1786” (2017) by Francisca Manuel, curated by Walk and Talk in partnership with ARQUIPÉLAGO – Contemporary Arts Center, Azores.
